OpenVPN client configuration – Windows 10

The application is distributed as Open Source GNU so we can install and use without any restrictions.

 

1. INSTALLING OpenVPN client

After downloading the application, right click on OpenVPN Client (1), and from the drop-down menu,
select “Run as administrator” (2)

Always install and run OpenVPN client as administrator!

If we have turn on “User Account Control – UAC”, click “Yes (3) allowing for changes

The splash screen applications, click “Next” (4)

Accept the license terms, click “I Agree” (5)

The choice of components, leave the default already selected and click “Next” (6)

Confirmation of the path where the program will be installed.

The default installation path is C:Program FilesOpenVPN or C:Program Files(x86)OpenVPN, click “Install” (7)

OpenVPN client requires to install additional network interface TAP-Win32 Adapter V9

Click “Install” (8)

Uncheck “Show Readme” and then click “Finish” (9)

We have a new shortcut on our desktop”, called OpenVPN GUI (10), click on the icon, right-click and
from the drop-down menu, select “Properties” (11).

Go to “Compatibility” (12) tab and select “Run this program as an administrator” (13)

Then click “OK” (14)

2.CONFIGURATION OpenVPN client

 

Before starting the application we have to download the OpenVPN configuration files:
http://www.vpnonline.pl/files

After downloading the “OpenVPN_Configs_Windows” package, you have to unpacked files to a directory on your desktop

Select and click the right mouse button on the “OpenVPN_Configs_Windows” (15)
and from the drop-down menu, select “Extract all ..” (16)

In the next window, click “Extract” (16)

On the desktop, we find new directory configuration files “OpenVPN_Configs_Windows”

The catalog contains two folders:

vpnonline_poland tun – Polish VPN servers

vpnonline_world tun – Foreign VPN servers

 

Now, go to:

“My PC” -> “Disc C:” -> “Program Files” (17) or “Program Files (x86)” -> “OpenVPN” (18) -> “config” (19)

Now, we have open catalog “config”.

In a second window, open the directory“OpenVPN_Configs_Windows”

Select the configuration files from selected directories vpnonline_poland tun or vpnonline_world tun
and drag to the directory “config” (20)

When you moving the configuration files, can be warned about the lack of administrative privileges

Check “Follow all elements of the current” (21) and click “Continue” (22)

After a successful transfer, close the window configuration files directory “config”

Run OpenVPN client (24) through a shortcut on the desktop “OpenVPN GUI” (25)

If you have enabled “User Account Control – UAC” click “Yes” (26) allow for changes

OpenVPN client is running, on the lower right corner we will see a new icon (27)

Click on the right mouse button it, from the drop-down list and select the interesting VPN server (28)
then click “Connect” (29)

During the connection to the VPN server, you will be asked to type your Username (30) and Password (31)

After entering the required data, click “OK” (32)

The login and password are the same as for the customer portal

After a successful connection, OpenVPN client changed colour on green (33)

To disconnect the VPN, right-click on the icon OpenVPN client and

drop-down list, select a VPN server, and then “Disconnect” (34)
